Join us for our social group for LGBTQ+ people aged over 50 in Liverpool, which is run by LGBT Foundation’s Pride in Ageing programme. In March we will be meeting in Manchester for a visit to Hope Mill Theatre to see new play ‘At the Rainbow’s End’. Your booking of a ticket with us for this event includes free entry to the play.
Clare Summerskill’s latest play, showing for the first time in Manchester, is based entirely on interviews with older LGBT people who have experienced homophobia and transphobia in care settings and when receiving care in their own home. It tackles an extremely important issue concerning older LGBTQ+ people who, having perhaps been out for their whole adult lives, are faced with the possibility of having to go ‘back into the closet’ at the point of accessing care in later life. Each performance will be followed by a Q&A with the writer, the audience and informed panelists.
The performance and post-show discussion begins at 3pm and will last approximately 1.5 hours. We will be meeting at Piccadilly Station (direct links from Liverpool) at 2.30pm to make our way to the theatre and the performance will be followed by soft drinks or coffee/tea in the theatre bar. Full details about meeting points will be shared with ticket-holders.
