The GM LGBTQ+ Equality Panel is one of seven Panels established by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to tackle inequality and injustice in the region. Our aim is to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ people across the city region by championing LGBTQ+ inclusion, and ensuring that the interests of our diverse LGBTQ+ communities drive all aspects of running and planning for the future of Greater Manchester.
LGBT Foundation is proud to be facilitating the GM LGBTQ+ Equality Panel, re-establishing it on the ethos of community ownership and co-production.
Apply to become a Panel member
We are looking for passionate individuals with links to Greater Manchester LGBTQ+ communities to join the GM LGBTQ+ Equality Panel!
The panel is made up of individuals representing Greater Manchester’s LGBTQ+ communities across its10 districts. We are actively looking to recruit panel members from Trafford, Rochdale and Wigan as these boroughs are not currently represented in the panel’s current membership.
We particularly encourage applications from trans and non-binary people, LGBTQ+ women, LGBTQ+ people of colour (PoC), LGBTQ+ young people, and LGBTQ+ disabled people; and others with lived experience of multiple marginalisation to ensure that the panel is as representative of the full diversity of our communities as possible.
As a member of the Panel, you will:
- Be able to work collaboratively with people from different backgrounds and different levels of knowledge
- Be committed to intersectionality, solidarity, and uplifting those who are most marginalised
- Be committed to accountability, transparency, and speaking up for the needs of LGBTQ+ people
- Commit a minimum of 9 half days to the work of the Panel annually, including attending monthly meetings
This is a voluntary role, but you will be reimbursed for travel and other reasonable expenses. We are also keen to develop the skills or Panel members, so we will provide free access to training and other development opportunities.
To avoid conflict of interest, substantive members of staff at LGBT Foundation are not eligible to be panel members. However, trustees, volunteers and sessional workers of LGBT Foundation are all very welcome to apply.
