Our name, age, ethnicity, and disabilities all help TO define us as people. 

So does our queer identity!

When organisations ask about our sexual orientation and gender identity, our authentic selves can be expressed. It can also help our voices be heard when we access new services. 

In 2021, LGBT Foundation and NHS England launched ‘If We’re Not Counted, We Don’t Count’ to help health and social care services ask about sexual orientation and trans status. The guidance provides tips and case studies and explains why monitoring is so important for supporting LGBTQ+ patients.
