The Derek Jarman Pocket Park at Manchester Art Gallery is a green space at the heart of the city designed and maintained by LGBTQ+ volunteers aged over 50 from LGBT Foundation’s Pride in Ageing programme. Visit the garden over the next few weeks to see the garden in Spring bloom.

The space, which opened in Summer 2022, is inspired by artist, gay rights activist and gardener Derek Jarman’s celebrated garden in Dungeness, Kent, as well as the life experiences of our over 50s LGBTQ+ communities in Greater Manchester.

Opening Hours: The garden is open from 10am-5pm Tuesday-Sunday. Closed Mondays, except bank holidays. Closed Good Friday, 24, 25, 26, 31 December & 1 January.

On Saturday 13th April at 1pm Manchester Art Gallery will be hosting a special performance to celebrate the National Trust’s Blossom Festival. More info here.

No ticket or prior booking is required.
