Volunteering at Events
LGBT Foundation has a strong presence at many LGBT-focused events such as Manchester Pride, IDAHOBIT, Sparkle, Sugar and Spice and World AIDS Day. We have a variety of roles at these events. These can include volunteering duties such as stewarding, taking part in the parade, fundraising, data entry, photography and lots more.
Here is where you will find up and coming events for you to take part in, so check this page regularly to see if there is anything you like!
Manchester Pride 2019
We are now recruiting fundraising volunteers to support LGBT Foundation over the Big Weekend! We will need volunteers to help out across all our programmes of work, from sexual health outreach to our community cafe. If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to fill in the Volunteering Form on our website and mention which roles you are interested in. If you have any questions, get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org.
Frequently Asked Questions
Below we have put some of the common questions people have about volunteering with us for Manchester Pride. If you have any more questions, do let us know by emailing email@example.com or calling 0345 3 30 30 30 and asking to speak to a member of the Volunteer Programme.
"When does Manchester Pride Start?"
Manchester Pride's Big Weekend will run from the 23rd of August, through to the 26th, and we will have plenty of volunteering opportunities available around these times. We are already asking people to state their interest through our volunteering form, which can be found here on our website
"What opportunities are there?"
Condom and Lube distribution (Outreach)
This year is the 25th anniversary of our condom and lube distribution scheme! To celebrate, we want to give out more condoms and lube than ever before! We can’t do this without your help! To celebrate how far we’ve come, we want to distribute 25000 Safe Sex packs over the weekend.
Helping to serve food, clean, and run events in the Community Café- a dry space that will provide free refreshments, activities and a place to relax over the weekend! The role may involve promoting the café to festivalgoers in the Village.
Have you got photography or videography skills that you’d like to share? This role is for you! You’ll be engaging with members of the public to create photos and videos to be shared on social media channels and for use in future campaigns.
The parade needs no introduction! To celebrate how far we’ve come, it’s our biggest parade entry ever! March with us on Saturday the 24th August and join us for brunch beforehand!
The Candlelit Vigil closes the Pride weekend with a moment of reflection and consideration to remember those lost to the HIV virus and acknowledge those who are still suffering or are persecuted today. The role would involve selling candles, stewarding at the event and collecting donations.
"I want to help, but don't know if I have the time?"
Our volunteer shifts will only ever be a maximum of 3.5 hours (except Village Angels, Village Haven and the Parade) to make sure that even those who can only give a little time can still find a way to take part!
Volunteering at Other Events
We regularly need volunteers for other events outside of Manchester pride, and we will update this site as we begin recruitment for those. Please check back with us if you are interested in getting involved, or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any further queries.
