Share your story with LGBT Foundation’s new national campaign

LGBT Foundation is inviting LGBTQ+ people and allies from across the UK to take part in a new national campaign celebrating everyday hope, joy and unity. We’re calling on LGBTQ+ people, their friends, families, allies and loved ones who want to share their stories and help show what it means to live out, loud and proud.

The campaign is designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ lives, alongside those of their friends, families, and loved ones, and the ordinary moments made possible by hard-fought, hard-won progress.

It will centre real-world stories of everyday hope and joy, drawn from our communities and those around them. These might include a trans man going topless at the beach, a gay couple waiting for their children at the school gate, a family dinner, or older lesbians at home watching TV. These small, ordinary, human moments – lived openly, visibly, and unapologetically – remind us that life is worth living, and that this joy is worth protecting.

What kind of stories are we looking for?

Your story could be about:

Holding your partner’s hand while walking down the street
A long-overdue kiss hello at the airport
Cooking and sharing a meal with people who feel like home
Telling people who you are — at work, at home, or later in life — and being accepted
Telling your grandparents about your boyfriend and them not batting an eyelid.
You and your partner at home watching a film together
Someone stepping in or speaking up when it counts
Doing the school run together, just like everyone else
Parents turning up to Pride to support their child
A small but meaningful moment of allyship from a friend
Sitting in the barber’s or salon chair and leaving feeling more like yourself

How stories may be shared

Selected stories may be featured across a range of platforms, including out‑of‑home advertising, media features, digital content, short‑form video, blogs, social media, supporter communications, and audio oral histories.

Whose voices we want to hear

We are particularly keen to hear from people whose voices are often underrepresented in mainstream LGBTQ+ campaigns, including:

Trans and non‑binary people
People of colour, particularly East Asian and South East Asian communities
Older LGBTQ+ people
Disabled LGBTQ+ people
Bisexual and pansexual people
Allies, parents, family members, and loved ones of LGBTQ+ people
