Rita Ora will be the headline act at this year’s Manchester Pride Big Weekend the four-day celebration of LGBT life at the end of August.

Ora,who rose to prominence in 2012 with her DJ Fresh’s collaboration “Hot Right Now”, will be joined by a varied line-up that includes the likes of Scissor Sisters front man Jake Shears, Sigala and Alexandra Burke.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to line the streets for the pride march, which will see different campaign groups, charities, businesses and activists taking part in the four day extravaganza, including LGBT Foundation.

Commenting on the announcement of this year’s line-up Mark Fletcher, Chief Executive for Manchester Pride, said: “This year we’ve curated the most eclectic, yet musically credible, line-up The Big Weekend has ever seen.

“From international artists like Rita Ora and Jake Shears, to underground stars such as Big Freedia and TCTS, we feel that this is a selection of artists that only Manchester Pride could present. It’s going to be an incredible celebration!

Other confirmed acts include, Lucy Spraggan, Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle, Gok Wan, and DJ legends Pete Tong and Jellybean Benitez.

Big Weekend tickets are already on sale for £28 for all four days or £20 for day tickets. As in previous years the cost will increase closer to the time so early booking is recommended.

Also don’t forget that LGBT Foundation will be looking for volunteers during the four day festival to help us deliver our Big Weekend programme (more details to follow soon). If you are interested in getting involved get in touch with our volunteer team at volunteer@lgbt.foundation
