Social Mixer: 'My First Pride' Community Programmes | 19:00 - 21:30 | Whitworth Locke

Never been to Pride before? Want to make some new friends? Join us for an evening of socialising for LGBTQ+ people who’ve come out in the past three years.

LGBT Foundation are so excited to be celebrating Pride this year, and we want to celebrate with you! The past few years have prompted lots of people to reflect on who they are, but provided limited chances for people to celebrate themselves and get to know other wonderful LGBTQ+ people face-to-face. We’re bringing people together who’ve come out recently and who might never have been to a Pride event before. With relaxed socialising and games, you’ll have a fun evening getting to know people and might come away with some people to spend Manchester Pride with!

This event is for LGBTQ+ people aged 18+. It is centred around LGBTQ+ people who have come out in the past three years, but is open to all.

Reflecting on our past: LGBT Foundation Open Archives Community Event | Community Organising Programme | 11:00-13:00 | Manchester Central Library

Drop in to Manchester Central Library this Pride week, to discover some of the rich history of Manchester's LGBTQ+ Community. With items specially selected from the LGBT Foundation Archive at Archives+.

Pride is a Protest and there are many parts that make that Protest happen. If you're inspired by the items in the archive and wish to get involved in community organising yourself, there will be a chance to chat to Nico our Community Organising Coordinator and hear about ways you can get involved and how we can all take part. We will also be joined by the Archive+ Team with a creative corner for you to have a go at crafting a message to take away with you.

Quitting with Pride- LGBTQI+ quit smoking support session Make Smoking History | 6-7pm | Online

LGBT Foundation, Make Smoking History and CGL (Change Live Grow) are coming together to provide an inclusive and safe space to talk about quitting smoking.

The online event will be a space to ask questions, get practical advice on how to quit, what help and support is available in Manchester and to chat about the many different types of NRT, nicotine replacement therapy, available.

Quitting smoking can be difficult, often services and campaigns are not representative of LGBTQI+ communities. CGL, the local stop smoking service for Manchester City Council area, is an inclusive service for all LGBTQI+ people.

Smoking rates are higher within LGBTQI+ communities, often a lack of representation in public health messaging, higher rates of substance misuse, poorer physical and mental health and discrimination can result in LGBTQI+ people smoking more. This event aims to provide a support network to talk about barriers to quitting for those who want to stop smoking but are unsure how to.

Join us and quit smoking for good with pride.
