Pride in Practice: 2 volunteering opportunities
Firstly, we are looking for a cheerful and chatty volunteer to join our Pride in Practice sessional worker in talking to pharmacies and optical practices in Greater Manchester.
The role would involve travelling by car to primary care outlets to drop off a ‘goodie bag’ of free resources, and encouraging the service to take part in LGBT awareness training and get a Pride in Practice award.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about the work we do with healthcare services and LGBT inclusion.
Secondly, we are looking for some volunteers to come in and make ‘goody bags’ for primary care services. This will help LGBT people all across Greater Manchester feel more visible and confident when going to the pharmacy or the optometrist in their local community.
Anyone who is interested in either of these roles should email email@example.com to express interest.
Human Resources and Finance Volunteer
Do you have experience of Microsoft Office use, internet and email use? How about experience in operating administrative systems and procedures? Perhaps you are working towards a relevant qualification in Human Resources or Finance and are looking to get hands-on experience? Can you spare 2-3 hours per week to support our Office Manager and Finance Advisor?
Foundation Direct Reception Volunteer
LGBT Foundation is looking for friendly, dedicated people to help us to provide a welcoming and accessible environment with reception assistance, building support and admin support.
You can find the Foundation Direct Reception Volunteer role profile here.
Please complete an application form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org if you think you'd like to support us!
Rampton High Security Psychiatric Hospital Volunteer
The LGBT Foundation has been holding 2 x monthly groups at Rampton High Secure Psychiatric Hospital for more than ten years. The groups act as a safe ‘neutral’ space for patients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans (and their allies) to meet others and share experiences and support. The main focus is social interaction and learning through discussion, debate and a range of activities including crafts, art and quizzes.
The volunteer role is to support the sessional workers who facilitate and deliver the groups; by interacting with patients and helping to set up and clear away. Although no specific qualifications are required for this role, previous experience of working or volunteering with service users, ideally within a mental health setting is essential.
The volunteer will be required to attend the Rampton visit every month, which is usually on the third Thursday of the month, between 1pm and 10.30pm (lunch and expenses will be provided on the day). Transport will be provided.
