WoC Shine - Empowered Project

16th January 2020, Manchester

Event Full Details:

“Empowered…” celebrating the lives of LGBT+ Women of Colour.

We will be sharing our stories. We will produce a visual creation to be displayed in Manchester in 2020.

LGBT+ WoC (women of colour) are invited to attend three consecutive monthly sessions (third Thursday of Jan, Feb and March) to contribute to a visual art piece by making their mark in any way that they wish.

This will be a warm and welcoming space for LGBT+ WoC / BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) women to get together, get creative, chat, have a laugh. One, or all sessions, come along!

We will work in mixed media including using text to share our stories.

We can introduce attendees to cross stitch, paper and wool crafts and more at each session to help attendees to contribute their thoughts on celebrating their lives and who they are.

Great for beginners, prompts will be provided.

Bring along your own ideas and we will have textile materials, paints, pens, coloured paper to use. We will start every session with a discussion about the project and how you would like to respond to the theme.

New to the group?

The sessions will be open from 5.45pm for any new attendees to come along and get used to the space, and say hi to Denise!

We always do introductions and this space is subject to our Safer Spaces Policy:

Free light refreshments provided.
