Sugar & Spice is back for a free weekend of workshops and events, designed for LGBTQ+ women to learn new skills and have some fun celebrating themselves!

Community Connections

Sugar & Spice is a weekend of free workshops and events for all LGBTQ+ women to come together, learn, and uplift themselves and each other! Keep reading to find out more about our workshops and events. Some are ticketed and some are drop in.

Sugar & Spice workshops are for all lesbian, bi, queer or questioning women, trans women, non-binary people wishing to access a women-centred space, and for those whose gender identity includes woman some or all of the time, aged 18+.

Friday 8th March
Sapphic Showcase @ HOME / 7pm / Tickets
Our open mic night with cabaret performances is already sold out but you can sign up to the waiting list if you like!

Saturday 9th March
Community cafe / 11 – 4 / No tickets needed
Come along anytime to our community cafe space to enjoy a free brew and meet some other LGBTQ+ wome. Spend some time relaxing and chatting in between workshops or just enjoy the Sugar & Spice vibes. We’ll have Alice along who can teach you how to split an apple with your bare hands! We’ll also have badge making and colouring available, as well as a quieter space if you just need to chill out.

Lino Print Workshop with Queer Roots Collective / 11 – 1 / Tickets
Come and try your hand at lino printing some beautiful designs with the Queer Roots Collective team! In this workshop we will go through the process step by step and explore designing, cutting, printing, and sewing on patches. No experience needed and we will supply the materials

Upcycled Coin Pouch Workshop with Stitched Up / 1 – 3.30 / Tickets
Join Stitched Up for an afternoon of upcycled purse making workshop, using reclaimed materials donated by the community of Greater Manchester to develop hand sewing skills to design, embellish and complete your own simple purse pouch.

Intro to D&D + One Shots / 4 – 6 / Tickets

Always wanted to try Dungeons & Dragons but never known where to start? Never heard of D&D but are intrigued by the idea of playing some role playing games in a supportive, beginner friendly space? Now’s your chance!

Music Takeover @ Love From / 6 onwards / No Tickets Required
We’re so excited to be working with Manchester’s alcohol-free pop up bar Love From for a Sugar & Spice music takeover. Join us for fun vibes and incredible music from Mud Club Band – a grunge pop trio based in Manchester. Expect soulful belting, moody bass and hypnotic drums with influences from bands like Breeders and Sonic Youth.
This event is open to all and is not ticketed, so get down there early and enjoy something from Love From’s incredible array of alcohol-free drinks!

Sunday 10th March

Come hang out with a free brew and enjoy the chill vibes with other LGBTQ+ women

Women’s Circle / 11 – 1 / Tickets
There is so much power in sharing your journey with others, as you will see that you are not alone after all. We will journal, meditate, pull oracle cards, share (as you wish), move our bodies, drink tea (with a sweet treat!), move through a powerful visualisation, and more.

Laughter for Stress Relief / 1.30 – 2.30 / Tickets
Feel the stress lift from your body and enjoy your brain switching off for an hour with this session from Sara of Serious Laughter

Sexploration / 2.30 – 3.30 / Tickets
A fun and sexy workshop about our the impact of our expectations on our relationships and sexuality as LGBTQ+ people

Film Screening: Bottoms / 4.30 – 6 / Tickets

We’re going to close out Sugar & Spice 2024 with a really fun film screening: Bottoms! Bottoms is about unpopular best friends PJ and Josie who start a high school fight club to meet girls and lose their virginity. They soon find themselves in over their heads when the most popular students start beating each other up in the name of self-defense.
