The Derek Jarman Pocket Park will also be open extended hours from 10am-5pm every day of Manchester Pride (including Bank Holiday Monday).
Come and relax in our urban oasis at the front of the Manchester Art Gallery. Join volunteer gardeners from Pride in Ageing at LGBT Foundation as they tend the garden that they designed and created.
There will be sketching materials available and a relaxing and energising programme of live music from Holly Marland and Teresa Lipinski who will share songs from around the world accompanied by Kora, a traditional West African harp.
There will also be an opportunity to hear a new soundscape created by Caro C made in conjunction with the Pride in Ageing gardeners. The soundscape will have its live debut at So Many Beauties Dementia Friendly Music Festival at Bridgewater Hall this September.
No ticket is required, just drop-in between 12-2pm. At 12:15 Holly and Teresa will lead a workshop for people who may not even believe they can sing! No previous experience required – just come along to the gallery atrium and enjoy learning simple harmony songs for enjoyment and wellbeing.
This free event forms part of Pride at Manchester Art Gallery events series in partnership with LGBT Foundation, Portraits of Recovery and Thames & Hudson. Other events in this series taking place on 25th August include Let’s Talk About Chemsex: Listening Party (1pm) and Prospect Cottage: Derek Jarman’s House in Conversation (2pm).
