APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN - Apply now to be a Trustee at LGBT Foundation

Are you ready for a new challenge, where you can make a real difference by helping one of the most exciting charities in the country to continue our life-affirming, life-transforming, life-saving work?

We’re recruiting new board members.

LGBT Foundation believes in delivering health and well-being services that mean that queer hope and joy can flourish throughout our community. LGBT Foundation makes a difference. A big difference. We provide direct help to more than 45,000 people each year, many of whom are at a crisis point with nowhere else to turn. We give advice, support and information to many, many more. The amazing staff and volunteers of LGBT Foundation save lives, build people’s confidence, make our communities safer, and successfully campaign for change.

On the board itself we are gender balanced and more than a third of trustees are people of colour. Over the past few years we’ve worked really hard to achieve this balance and want to maintain it because representation matters. Due to people moving on this year that means we are particularly looking for applicants who are women, trans or non-binary and people of colour.

But if you don’t think you have these specific skills, please don’t rule yourself out, because the most important things we are looking for are a curious mind, a compassionate soul, and a passionate heart for LGBTQ+ equality.

Trustees are ultimately accountable for the organisation and their governance responsibilities include:

  • Setting and maintaining vision, mission, and values
  • Developing strategy together with the CEO
  • Ensuring suitable policies and documents exist
  • Ensuring compliance with the law
  • Ensuring compliance with the governing document and charitable objects
  • Maintaining proper financial oversight
  • Maintaining effective board performance including board appraisals
  • Promoting the organisation and protecting its reputation
  • Recruiting and supporting the CEO
