Event Full Details: Tuesdays At Tescos, this beautifully written and performed monologue presented by Tangled Web guarantees to make you think.
Originally written by French playwright Emmanuel Darley and translated into English by Matthew Hurt and Sarah Vermande, this one hour monologue is sensitively performed by Scott Kentell and directed by Sue Womersley, creators of newly formed Tangled Web a local theatre company. Tangled Web in collaboration with Luca Rudlin of People Staring, a young and vibrant Manchester production company have also filmed a short twenty minute documentary which takes a peek into the lives of local transgender people and precedes the monologue.
Pauline used to be Paul and as far as her father is concerned she still is. Despite her fathers’ inability to accept her as a woman, Pauline visits him every Tuesday to help him out with his laundry and his shopping, She takes the audience with her on her weekly visits ‘come hell or high water’ flouting the barbed comments, the battles and the stares wanting quite simply to be his daughter. ‘All quite ordinary, all quite normal’ Sometimes funny, sometimes not, Tuesday At Tescos is an intense, thought provoking journey exploring human perceptions of identity and acceptance that stays with you.
