Is this service right for me?

We offer tests to LGBT people and men who have sex with men. You must be 18+ and live in Greater Manchester.

If you are under 18, or you have symptoms of an STI or HIV, you will need to visit a sexual health clinic (GUM). During the coronavirus pandemic, you should contact them by phone and only attend in person if asked to do so by their staff. You can find your nearest sexual health clinic on the NHS website.

If you have had unprotected sex in the last 72 hours, you might benefit from PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis). PEP is an emergency course of medication which can help stop you getting HIV after a potential exposure. You can get PEP from your nearest sexual health clinic, or from an A&E department. To read more visit our PEP page.

When to Test?

If you're having sex with multiple, new and casual partners, it's advised that you test as frequently as every 3 months, as this is the window period for a lot of HIV tests to accurately pick up the virus (including ours). If you're having fewer instances of condomless sex then get in to the routine of having a HIV test at least once every 12 months.
