Trans by numbers

There is no major consensus on the number of transgender people in the UK or the world today. Hard-and-fast statistics are lacking for a couple of reasons. One is that many trans people are not out and are either living as trans behind closed doors or for the lack of statistics and research into this area. A study by GIRES in 2011 that there is upwards of half a million trans people in the UK.
