Talk about HIV

We want to remove the stigma and discrimination that many people before us have experienced, through open and honest conversations about HIV. We’re promoting:
· Accessible testing opportunities
· Living positively with HIV
· Early diagnosis and access to treatment

We’ll be online on Grindr, Gaydar, Scruff, Squirt, Fitlads, and BBRT to talk about HIV, routes of transmission, sex and risk, and testing services every day from the start of Testing Week through to World AIDS Day, as part of our Netreach scheme.

LGBT Foundation offers a 'Let's Talk About Sex' service for people to talk openly about the sex they are having or the sex they want to have. We provide information, support and advice to enhance sexual knowledge and practices.

We offer monthly Men’s Spaces for gay and bisexual men to further their knowledge of sexual health and pleasure, whilst improving their self-esteem and self-confidence. Our next session 'Manchester Penetrated' starts on 14th November at 7pm @ The Backdoor, Bar Pop in the Village. Find out more here: http://lgbt.foundation/mens-spaces

LGBT Foundation offers a comprehensive range of health and wellbeing services for the LGBT community. We treat everyone as an individual with integrity and respect to ensure that they receive the treatment and support that best suits them. We also ensure that we keep the community updated on developments in HIV treatments through our weekly bulletin, website and social media platforms.

Take Action

Prevention

The Sexual Health Team continue to deliver safer sex packs weekly throughout the 'Gay Village' in Manchester to over 100 ensuring people have access to free condoms and lube, thanks to funding from Manchester Pride. We also deliver condoms and lube across Greater Manchester as part of Passionate about Sexual Health (PaSH) partnership with BHA for Equality and George House trust. This will includes distributing ‘Lets Talk About Sex’ posters, HIV Prevention England campaign materials, Rapid HIV Testing Service cards and posters and details of our drug and alcohol prevention work.

Community engagement

LGBT Foundation staff and volunteers will be attending a range of social events and spaces. We’ll be encouraging people to get tested, know their HIV status and improve their confidence to talk about HIV with partners, friends and family.

We’re asking people to pledge their support for National HIV Testing Week by posting selfies outside the venues you're testing at alongside the hashtag #HIVTestWeek and for World AIDS Day show your red ribbon proudly and pledge your support on social media with the hashtag #MCRWAD.

LGBT Foundation running a series of workshops round National HIV Testing Week and World AIDS Day, focused on sharing experiences and how testing plays a key role in people taking control of their sexual health.

Let's Talk and Test Together

'Let's Talk and Test Together' is an empowering introduction to Sexual Health for LGBT students facilitated by the Sexual Health team at LGBT Foundation. We will cover key issues relevant for LGBT students including accessing PEP and PrEP, STIs and screening services, using dating apps, and issues around Chemsex.

The workshop will be followed at 3pm by free Rapid HIV testing at the Health Centre in the Maxwell Building for Salford LGBT student.

If you're a University of Salford student, please book a place for the workshop at the Student Advantage system. We will allocate spaces for testing at the workshop or on a 'first come, first served' basis.
