LGBT Foundation condemns the statement made by Crispin Blunt defending convicted sex offender MP Imran Ahmad Khan.

As Chair of the UK Parliament’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global LGBT+ Rights, Crispin Blunt’s view that this conviction is a miscarriage of justice is exceptionally inappropriate and openly questions the integrity of the justice system.

A jury heard the entire case and came to a conclusion; remarks like this add to a culture of victim shaming and make it even more difficult for victims to come forward and speak out.

Crispin Blunt has since stepped down as Chair. We look forward to working with the new Chair when they are elected.
