On Friday 5th June, we celebrated our first Volunteer Awards as LGBT Foundation. The Volunteer Awards have for a long time been an important date in the charity’s calendar as it gives us a chance to recognise and thank all of our160+ volunteers. LGBT Foundation Chair David McGovern describes the event as his "favourite night of the year."

Essentially, LGBT Foundation would not exist if it were not for the hard work and dedication of the people who volunteer. This year alone, our volunteers dedicated 7,049 hours of their time to help provide services for over 40,000 service users.

Here are the winners of the awards:

Volunteer Newcomer of the Year: Brian Lloyd

Volunteer Team of the Year: Sexual Health

Volunteer Supervisor of the Year: Kate Hardy

Volunteer Going the Extra Mile: Heather Porteous

Outstanding Achievement by a Volunteer: Darren Wilkes

Volunteer of the Year: David Allinson

Ruby Lily also received special recognition for having volunteered at LGBT Foundation for 15 years.
