House of Lords Success
Last night equal marriage took a step further, as the House of Lords voted against Lord Dear's wrecking amendment with a majority of 390 - 148. Despite Lord Dear trying to stop the progress of the Bill, and Lord Tebbit's protestations, especially around the 'Lesbian Queen' issue - Lords voted in favour of pushing the Bill through to the next stage.
What Happens Now?
The Bill will not pass through to the next stage in The House of Lords, which is the Committee Stage. After that, there is a Report Stage and then a Third Reading, before Consideration of Amendment, and then Royal Assent. The Committee stage will take place on 17th June, and we'll once again be tweeting live @lgfoundation, using the hashtag #lgfoundation.
