The LGF challenges you to take action in 2014!!

Publish Date: 16/01/2014

Fancy a challenge? Want to take ACTION against homophobia? If you’re looking for an opportunity to improve yourself in 2014, why not take up a challenge for The Lesbian & Gay Foundation (The LGF)?

The LGF are calling for volunteers to take part in some of the biggest running events in 2014, including the Virgin London Marathon and the BUPA Great Manchester Run.

Challengers will be making a massive contribution to The LGF’s mission statement – ‘Ending Homophobia and Empowering People.’ Previous runners for ‘Team LGF’ described their experiences as motivating and invigorating.

Volunteer Manager Charlotte Cooke said: “Join Team LGF and help us to run homophobia out of town! Whether you’re a first time runner or looking to improve your PB, we have races to challenge and inspire you. Just remember: be it a 14 minute or a 7 minute mile, it’s still a mile travelled for an excellent cause!”

The LGF still have places available in the following events:

  • The Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon taking place on 2 March
  • The Virgin London Marathon taking place on 13 April
  • BUPA London 10,000 taking place on 25 May
  • BUPA Great Manchester Run taking place on 18 May

If anyone has a place in a run that is not on The LGF’s event list then we would still love for you to join our team - you can fundraise for The LGF and we will provide you with all the resources you need.

Participants will be given support and advice along the way to help them reach their training and fundraising goals.

Every runner will receive a welcome pack which includes guides to training, some useful fundraising tips and a free Enough is Enough! running top as well.

Although registration has not yet opened for either of the BUPA races, closing dates are fast approaching for both the Virgin London Marathon and the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon.

Registration for the Virgin London Marathon closes on 31 January and for the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon 14 February respectively, so don’t delay in contacting us if you would like to take part.
