Sir Ian McKellen Supports The LGF Over National HIV Testing Week

Publish Date: 21/11/2014

Today is the start of National HIV Testing Week; a national initiative to get more men who have sex with men testing more regularly. National HIV Testing Week is an annual event which aims to increase…

  • Testing among key populations in England, including gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men

  • Awareness and acceptability of HIV testing

  • Access to HIV testing

… in order to improve early diagnosis and treatment of HIV among those most at risk.

LGF patron Sir Ian McKellen has been extremely supportive of the range of activity we’ve got planned for National HIV Testing Week here at The LGF. Gay and bisexual men are still disproportionately affected by HIV, the latest statistics for the North West of England show that over half of new cases of HIV presented to the regions clinics in 2013 were between gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM).

The LGF staff team will all be involved in supporting National HIV Testing Week which runs from 22nd-30th November and we have loads of outreach, Netreach and testing available for gay and bisexual men every day, for more information visit: lgbt.foundation/nhtw.
