Upon hearing about Pride in Practice Assistant Practitioner Lesley Fryer of Salford Medical Centre was eager for her practice to be involved. Lesley Fryer stated "It is important that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation should feel that they will be treated with respect and sensitivity when they go to their GP. I was very concerned to hear that some patients might be wary of being open about their sexual orientation. I hope this award will show how committed to an open environment of care and trust at Salford Medical Practice"
Sian Payne, Director of Organisational Development at The Lesbian & Gay Foundation presented the award. "I’m really pleased that Salford Medical Centre has achieved a GOLD Pride in Practice award. As a Salford resident myself, it is reassuring to know that GP surgeries in my area are committed to improving access to health for lesbian, gay and bisexual members of their community."
Practice Manger Margaret Wilkinson said "At the Salford Medical Centre we are committed to delivering the highest possible quality of care to all our patients. We value diversity and understand that different parts of the community have to be treated in different ways. We are very proud to have been awarded the GOLD award by Pride in Practice and will continue to strive to deliver the best possible care for everyone in the community.”
