Free HIV sampling kits for Tameside & Glossop
Publish Date: 30/01/2013
The LGF are working in partnership with BHA to promote free home sampling kits for HIV and syphilis. The tests are provided by RU Clear with funding from NHS Tameside & Glossop
RU Clear is part of the NHS and provides high quality, confidential sexual health screening across Greater Manchester.
Tests are available ONLY to Tameside & Glossop residents who are gay and bisexual men, black Africans or anyone who feels they may have been at a high risk of acquiring HIV.
If you live in Ashton-under-Lyne, Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Glossop, Hyde, Mossley, Mottram or Stalybridge then you can request a home sampling kit
The kit uses a ‘dry blood spot’ test which involves pricking your finger with a lancet (small needle) and providing a sample blood sample on a card
This is then sent directly to the laboratory by post for testing.
If you have ever been treated for syphilis in the past then this service is NOT recommended and we would suggest you attend your local Sexual Health clinic for a test
