CALLING LESBIAN AND BISEXUAL WOMEN WHO ARE ALSO BAME, TRANS AND/OR OLDER (50+)

We are very excited to welcome the newest member of our team V, who is increasing inclusion in our Women’s Programme.

V

Have you heard of the concept of intersectionality? It was introduced by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989, a black American civil rights activist and leading scholar in critical race theory. It is the overlapping of social identities such as race, gender, age and sexual orientation leading to different experiences of discrimination.

V will be focusing on working with women who feel like their multiple identities are not represented and recognised enough.

There are two main areas of this inclusion work:

> V will be organising different forums for older, trans and BAME lesbian and bi women to meet other women who share the same experiences and have a safe space to talk.

> V will be offering workshops for community organisations who are interested in improving their services toward lesbian and bisexual women with multiple identities.

V's message to BAME, trans and older lesbian and bi women is

"You can help us create the best possible safe space for you and women like you. Our job is to make sure this inclusion work is relevant and representative of what matters to you. Therefore, the first step of our project is to ask you what you want them to look like So, please consider filling out this quick survey to give us your opinions: click here to visit the survey"

We want to make sure this survey is accessible for anyone who wants to fil it in, so if you have any access requirements please get in touch.

If you are interested in getting involved in any of this or want to talk to us about how you think we could improve our services for women who share your multiple identities please contact V by clicking here.
