BME LGBT Mental Health Event

This Networking Event is being run in partnership with Time to Change,England’s biggest programme to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems. The programme is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, and funded by the Department of Health and Comic Relief.

Time to Change is a social movement that wants to encourage more people to break down the stigma surrounding mental health within their own communities such as, workplaces, colleges,  in fact anywhere.

Several organisations and groups across greater Manchester will be holding a Networking Workshop at the Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) as part of this programme.

When- 26th February 2015- 11 to 3pm

Where- The LGF- Number 5 Richmond Street, Manchester

The workshop will:

  • Offer an opportunity for Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities who identify as Lesbian Gay Bisexual or Transgender (LGB&T) to get together
  • Discuss some of the additional layers of discrimination that people from BME-LGB&T communities can face and how this can impact on mental well being
  • Raise awareness of mental health discrimination
  • Explore ways in which you can get involved with the campaign
